Explore New Coffee and Dessert Shops in Richardson, TX

At least ten coffee, tea, bakery and dessert shops opened in Richardson between January and September 2026, according to Community Impact's local reporting. Several more are scheduled before the year ends. The count stands out. The menus tell you more.

Read those openings side by side and a pattern shows up. A Hong Kong mango dessert shop opened with a full fruit-drink menu. A Turkish-inspired roastery sells espresso next to cheesecake and baklava. A gelato shop pours coffee. A French-Asian bakery is coming with smoothies and tea. In Richardson this year, the place you stop for a drink and the place you stop for dessert have mostly become the same place, and nearly every major corridor in the city has one.

The Drink and the Sweet Now Share a Counter

The clearest example is Royal Roastery, which opened April 4 at 1055 S. Sherman St., Suite 100. It serves coffee with cheesecake, baklava and crepes. The model worked well enough that Royal Roastery Express held a grand opening June 26 across town at 1403 E. Campbell Road, Suite 110.

The pairing also runs the other way. Ciao Sweets and Gelato opened March 5 at 850 S. Greenville Ave., Suite 102. It started from pastry and gelato and added crepes, waffles and coffee. In March, Luna Coffee Co took over the former Urban Mocca at 1144 N. Plano Road, Suite 121, serving drinks and pastries.

Even the businesses still on the way put both halves in their names. Yaffa Coffee & Kunafa and Al-Hamawi Roastery & Coffee have both announced Richardson locations. Levant Coffee has announced international drinks and desserts for late 2026.

The map below groups the shops by corridor so you can see the spread.

East Belt Line Gets a Dessert Block

The stretch of East Belt Line Road east of Central Expressway now has three dessert stops within a few blocks of each other.

Hui Lau Shan opened June 5 in Richardson East Shopping Center at 1601 E. Belt Line Road, Suite 100. The chain began as an herbal tea trolley in Hong Kong in the 1960s. Today it makes mango desserts by hand every day and sells them with fruit-based drinks, mochi and coconut jelly. Its local menu lists Mango Sago, Mango Coconut Duo Mix, Mango Chewy Ball and Mango Crystal Jelly. The shop opened with soft-opening hours of 4 to 8 p.m. daily. Its online ordering page currently says it is temporarily closed to orders, so call ahead before you drive over.

A short drive west, Tasty Treats Creamery has been at 1324 E. Belt Line Road since Oct. 26, 2025. Owner Jay Chaudhary told Community Impact the shop carries more than 36 ice cream flavors, lets guests build their own milkshakes, and makes warm brownies, donuts and waffles fresh every day.

The third stop is still on the way. Tous les Jours, the French-Asian bakery, is projected to open at 1396 E. Belt Line Road in October. It will sell bread, cakes, pastries and pies along with coffee, tea and smoothies. State construction records describe the space as an interior bakery and café fit-out at Richland Shopping Center. As of Oct. 2, no opening day had been announced.

Central Expressway and the Campbell–Arapaho Grid

On the west side of the city, the same pairing comes in different styles.

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko soft-opened Aug. 11 at Richardson Heights Shopping Center, 100 S. Central Expressway, Suite 15. It is the chain's second Dallas-Fort Worth location. Maiko makes its drinks with matcha imported from Kyoto, Japan, and also serves soft serve, parfaits and shaved ice. The chain's menu features Uji Kintoki shaved ice, matcha soft serve and the Maiko Special matcha parfait, though it warns that not every item is available at every store. The Richardson store page asks guests to call for current hours.

A few minutes north, Campbell Road has three new options. Milk + Tea opened June 1 at 581 W. Campbell Road, Suite 119, its first Dallas-area location. Cookie Society at 232 W. Campbell Road now posts regular operating hours on its Richardson page. An August report had listed its opening date as TBD. Royal Roastery Express sits farther east on Campbell.

Nablus Desserts opened Feb. 8 at 525 W. Arapaho Road, Suite 36. It serves kunafa, Dubai chocolate and fteer. With Ciao Sweets and Gelato on Greenville and Maiko at Richardson Heights, that gives the west side of Central Expressway gelato, matcha, boba, cookies and kunafa, all opened within roughly six months of each other.

Coit Road: Pastry Now, Ice Cream in November

Selda Bakery was the first new arrival of 2026. It soft-opened Jan. 20 at 101 S. Coit Road, Suite 10, with Turkish and European pastries including baklava and pide, plus food served all day.

Farther north, the shopping center at Coit Road is filling in. Bread Zeppelin opened its salad-in-a-baguette concept at 1920 N. Coit Road, Suite 201, on Sept. 30. Next door at 1930 N. Coit Road, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream plans to open in November. Every Howdy store is run by employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The company employs more than 100 of them across nine stores and aims to create more than 1,000 additional jobs over the next five years. It rotates 18 custom recipes, including pumpkin spice latte, cookies and cream, and orange dreamsicle. That puts lunch and dessert a few doors apart on Coit by the end of the year.

Lockwood and Main: The Core District Leans Into Coffee

The Core District is getting the most coffee-focused openings in the city, and both of them are moving into spaces Richardson already knows.

Peregrine Coffee Roasters opened May 5 at 514 Lockwood Drive, Suite 1. It replaced Communion Coffee Shop in the Communion Neighborhood Cooperative building. The business started as a roastery in Colorado. Owner Stephen Holmes told Community Impact the shop focuses on "black coffee done right" and makes almost everything in-house, including syrups, chai and caramel. The menu goes past coffee, too. There is a blood orange vanilla latte, a sparkling vanilla espresso lemonade called the "thunderbolt," cream sodas and fresh-juiced ginger beer.

Holmes has also described plans beyond the café:

"The long-term vision is for this location to become a larger hub for Peregrine in the Dallas area, including roasting, collaborative events and expanded coffee offerings."

Peregrine is also working on a barrel-aged coffee with its neighbor, Lockwood Distilling Company.

A few blocks away, 1418 Coffee is taking over 200 E. Main St., the building that housed Isabelly's Chocolates and Sweet Treats until it closed in 2023. The company already has shops in Prosper, Plano and Garland, and a Celina location was also expected in 2026. A sister company, 1418 Coffee Roasters, roasts its beans in McKinney. The April announcement targeted late summer for the Richardson shop. The company's website now says "coming in the fall of 2026," and no exact day has been posted. When it opens, a corner of Main Street that sold chocolates and sweets for years will be pouring coffee next to pastries.

Announced, Not Yet Pouring

Several more coffee and dessert projects have been announced but had not been confirmed open as of Oct. 2. Treat these as plans for now, not places to visit:

  • Tous les Jours, 1396 E. Belt Line Road, projected for October
  • Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, 1930 N. Coit Road, projected for November
  • 1418 Coffee, 200 E. Main St., fall 2026
  • Tutto Tiramisu and Pasta Bar, 743 Brick Row, Suite 400, opening date TBD
  • Matari Coffee Co., Yemeni coffee drinks, projected for summer 2026 with no confirmed opening yet
  • Levant Coffee, international drinks and desserts, late 2026
  • Yaffa Coffee & Kunafa, Port Coffee Co. and Al-Hamawi Roastery & Coffee, all listed as TBD

If even half of these open on schedule, Belt Line, Coit, Campbell and Main Street will each add another stop that sells a drink and a sweet over the same counter before spring.

A new shop in the center down the street changes how a block feels, and over time it can show up in how buyers see the homes around it. If you're curious how Richardson's changing retail corridors connect to the value of your own home, Derrus Rogers is glad to walk through it with you over coffee at one of these new spots.
